The imminent sale of his mother’s house leads Javier to begin an investigation into the history of its garden. What at first seems like a trivial matter of purely private interest soon intersects with the history of Viña del Mar (Chile), known as the Garden City. Colonialism, migration, ghosts, princes, love stories, and global warming come together in this hybrid film which, like gardens themselves, lies somewhere between nature and artifice, documentary and fiction.
